Role of prostate ultrasonography to predict the efficacy of bipolar prostatectomy in benign prostatic hyperplasia

Objective: To evaluate the role of prostatic ultrasonography in predicting clinical outcomes bipolar transurethral resection prostate.Method: The prospective study was conducted at Urology Department, Kafrelsheikh University Hospital, Cairo, Egypt from December 2018 to June 2019, and comprised male patients complaining lower urinary tract symptoms due benign hyperplasia. were subjected pelvi-abdominal transrectal values noted for international prostate symptom score, uroflowmetry, post-void residual urine volume, ejaculatory domain, erectile function domain index function. safety procedure assessed using modified Clavien classification complications. This followed bycystourethroscopy under spinal anaesthesia, then by a single experienced urologist. Operating time, length hospitalisation, intraoperative postoperative complications, catheterization changes haemoglobin levels recorded. All evaluations done baseline postoperatively 1, 3 6 months. Data analysed SPSS 21.Results: There 109 with mean age 65.53±6.27 years, body mass 24.6±1.7kg/m2. Mean total volume 86.32±43.61gm (range: 30-195m). significant decrease (p<0.001). associated concomitant improvement uroflowmetry over six-month follow-up (p<0.001 ). Overall, 63(57.8%) subjects sexually active, there no difference score (p>0.05).Conclusion: Prostate can be used as investigating tool after prostate.Keywords: Transurethral resection, Prostate, Prostatic hyperplasia, Erectile, Urinary tract, Ultrasonography, Pelvis.
