چکیده
Study Objectives: To compare the mean duration of phototherapy in neonates with hyperbilirubinemia receiving vs. without probiotics. Design and Settings: It was a randomized controlled trial carried at Department Pediatrics, DHQ Hospital Kasur from Jan 2021 to June 2021. Patients Methods: The present research involved 94 both genders aged between 2 28 days life diagnosed neonatal (serum bilirubin level ?15mg/dL direct ?1.5 mg/dL). These were allocated into two groups randomly. Neonates Group-I given probiotics along conventional treatment whereas Group-II received alone. outcome described terms (phototherapy stopped when serum less than 10 mg/dl during ?rst week 11 after first week) which recorded compared groups. An informed written consent taken parents every neonate. Results Study: age 6.54±4.96 while gestational 37.31±2.04 weeks. There 55 (58.5%) baby boys 39 (41.5%) girls ratio 1.4:1. weight 2.89±0.49 Kg upon admission 16.73±1.19 mg/dl. significantly shorter as alone (3.13±0.92 3.81±1.12 days; p=0.002). Similar significant difference observed across various subgroups based on age, gender, admission. Conclusion: Addition practice jaundiced found hasten recovery evident reduction advocating its routine use future practice. Keywords: Neonatal Hyperbilirubinemia, Phototherapy, Probiotics

Hypocalcemia in jaundiced neonates receiving phototherapy
OBJECTIVE To determine the frequency of hypocalcemia in term neonates with jaundice receiving phototherapy. METHODS This was a cross sectional study conducted at Neonatal intensive care unit, National Institute of Child Health, Karachi from 1st January 2014 to 30th December 2014. A total of 123 term neonates with jaundice of either gender managed by phototherapy were enrolled in the study. Ge...
متن کاملEffects of Hyperbilirubinemia on Auditory Brainstem Response of Neonates Treated with Phototherapy
Introduction: One of the most common pathologies in neonates is hyperbilirubinemia, which is a good marker for damage to the central nervous system. The sensitivity of the auditory system to bilirubin has been previously documented, with much discrepancy in its effects on Auditory Brainstem Response results. Thus the objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of hyperbilirubinemia on ...
متن کاملThe Effect of Intensive Phototherapy on Management of Hyperbilirubinemia in Neonates with the Gestational Age of 34 Weeks and More
Background: Neonatal hyperbilirubinemia is one of the most common causes of neonatal morbidity and a global health priority. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of intensive phototherapy on management of hyperbilirubinemia with different etiologies. Methods: This retrospective cohort study was conducted on 219 neonates with indirect hyperbilirubinemia, who had the indication for photothera...

متن کاملEffect of Intensive Phototherapy and Exchange Transfusion on Copper, Zinc and Magnesium Serum Levels in Neonates with Indirect Hyperbilirubinemia
BackgroundMany studies reported that copper, zinc and magnesium play important roles in the pathogenesis and development of neonatal hyperbilirubinemia. Exchange transfusion and intensive phototherapy are known two modalities of therapy for severe neonatal hyper bilirubinemia, but the effect of them on those trace elements is unknown.Materials and MethodsCopper, Zinc and Magnesium serum levels ...
