چکیده
Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs) are considered a major contributor to membrane biofouling in Seawater Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) desalination plants. The presence of HABs the raw feed water leads an increase fouling rate, chemical consumption, and can cause temporary shutdown Effective pretreatment reduce amount organic foulants reaching RO alleviate problem flux decline during operation frequent cleaning using chemicals. This study compared effect in-situ generated liquid ferrate ferric chloride combination with dissolved air flotation (DAF) as strategy remove algal cells matter (AOM) bloom events. Experiments were performed bench-scale DAF unit. conditions simulated by harvesting AOM from cultivating Chaetoceros affinis (CA) seawater concentration around 10 mg C/L carbon (DOC). was wet oxidation alkaline media. best performance achieved combined use DAF, removing up 100% cells, 99.99% adenosine tri-phosphate (ATP), 92% AOM.

Controls on the distribution of fluorescent dissolved organic matter during an under‐ice algal bloom in the western Arctic Ocean
In this study we used fluorescence excitation and emission matrix spectroscopy, hydrographic data, and a self-organizing map (SOM) analysis to assess the spatial distribution of labile and refractory fluorescent dissolved organic matter (FDOM) for the Chukchi and Beaufort Seas at the time of a massive under-ice phytoplankton bloom during early summer 2011. Biogeochemical properties were assesse...
متن کاملImproved algal harvesting using suspended air flotation.
Current methods to remove algae from a liquid medium are energy intensive and expensive. This study characterized algae contained within a wastewater oxidation pond and sought to identify a more efficient harvesting technique. Analysis of oxidation pond wastewater revealed that algae, consisting primarily of Chlorella and Scenedesmus, composed approximately 80% of the solids inventory during th...

Critical evaluation and modeling of algal harvesting using dissolved air flotation.
In this study, Chlorella zofingiensis harvesting by dissolved air flotation (DAF) was critically evaluated with regard to algal concentration, culture conditions, type and dosage of coagulants, and recycle ratio. Harvesting efficiency increased with coagulant dosage and leveled off at 81%, 86%, 91%, and 87% when chitosan, Al(3+) , Fe(3+) , and cetyl trimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) were used at...
متن کاملRethinking Dissolved Air Flotation (daf) Design for Industrial Pretreatment
Dissolved air flotation (DAF) has been used with increasing frequency in recent decades for the treatment of industrial wastewater. Advances in the technology have expanded the range of applications for DAF; however, engineers and designers frequently use outdated and insufficient design data to design and specify DAF systems for industrial pretreatment. Discussions of advances in DAF design ar...
