چکیده
Continuous hypertonic saline for hemispheric ischemic infarcts has been routinely used in neurocritical centers the management of malignant cerebral edema. However, data supporting its use are extremely limited. We present a systematic literature review that highlights five studies (one randomized control trial and four retrospective cohort) where effects continuous were studied patients with acute infarcts. Collectively, there is lack substantial evidence use. Also, this emphasizes significant study flaws make conclusions largely nongeneralizable. Although reported demonstrate improvement intracranial pressure, no differences neurological or functional outcomes overall mortality. BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE The mainstay of treatment for acute bronchiolitis remains supportive care. The objective of this study was to assess the efficacy and safety of nebulized hypertonic saline (HS) in infants with acute bronchiolitis. METHODS Data sources included PubMed and the Virtual Health Library of the Latin American and Caribbean Center on Health Sciences Information up to May 2015...
متن کاملContinuous hypertonic saline for acute liver failure.
Acute liver failure (ALF) is a clinical condition with high mortality. The most common cause of death in ALF is cerebral edema. We present a 12-year-old boy with hepatitis A-related acute liver failure in grade IV hepatic encephalopathy successfully managed in the ICU using continuous hypertonic saline as the preferred osmotherapy.

متن کاملSaline in acute bronchiolitis RCT and economic evaluation: hypertonic saline in acute bronchiolitis - randomised controlled trial and systematic review.
BACKGROUND Acute bronchiolitis is the most common cause of hospitalisation in infancy. Supportive care and oxygen are the cornerstones of management. A Cochrane review concluded that the use of nebulised 3% hypertonic saline (HS) may significantly reduce the duration of hospitalisation. OBJECTIVE To test the hypothesis that HS reduces the time to when infants were assessed as being fit for di...
