چکیده
Viral insect-borne plant pathogens have devastating impacts in agroecosystems. Vector-borne are often transmitted by generalist insects that move between non-crop and crop hosts. Insect vectors can wide diet breadths, but it is unknown which hosts serve as pathogen reservoirs host harbours the highest density of vectors. In Pacific Northwest USA, pea aphid (Acyrthosiphon pisum) a key virus vector pulse crops. Despite having large number potential occuring region, no reservoir has yet been identified for economically-costly Pea Enation Mosaic Virus (PEMV). We addressed these issues linking field surveys an with statistical models to develop risk assessments common legumes; 2018, we completed 65-site survey where aphids were surveyed weedy legumes within outside dry fields. quantified abundance on 17 hosts, tissue was tested PEMV. Relatively high densities A. pisum found habitats dominated hairy vetch (Vicia villosa), only legume other than cultivated PEMV detected. Our results indicate V. villosa alternative PEMV, pest management practices this region should consider distribution viral disease mitigation efforts pulses.

Role of Pea Enation Mosaic Virus Coat Protein in the Host Plant and Aphid Vector
Understanding the molecular mechanisms involved in plant virus-vector interactions is essential for the development of effective control measures for aphid-vectored epidemic plant diseases. The coat proteins (CP) are the main component of the viral capsids, and they are implicated in practically every stage of the viral infection cycle. Pea enation mosaic virus 1 (PEMV1, Enamovirus, Luteovirida...

Plant pathogens can induce symptoms that affect the performance of insect herbivores utilizing the same host plant. Previous studies examining the effects of infection of tic bean, Vicia faba L. (Fabales: Fabaceae), by pea enation mosaic virus (PEMV), an important disease of legume crops, indicated there were no changes in the growth and reproductive rate of its primary vector the pea aphid, Ac...

متن کاملMultiple Cis-acting elements modulate programmed -1 ribosomal frameshifting in Pea enation mosaic virus
Programmed -1 ribosomal frameshifting (-1 PRF) is used by many positive-strand RNA viruses for translation of required products. Despite extensive studies, it remains unresolved how cis-elements just downstream of the recoding site promote a precise level of frameshifting. The Umbravirus Pea enation mosaic virus RNA2 expresses its RNA polymerase by -1 PRF of the 5'-proximal ORF (p33). Three hai...
