Ring artifacts removal in X-ray-induced acoustic computed tomography

چکیده

X-ray-induced acoustic computed tomography (XACT) is a hybrid imaging modality for detecting X-ray absorption distribution via ultrasound emission. It facilitates from single projection illumination, thus reducing the radiation exposure and improving speed. Nonuniform detector response caused by interference between multichannel data acquisition ring array transducers amplifier systems yields artifacts in reconstructed XACT images, which compromises image quality. We propose model-based algorithms corrected demonstrate their efficacy on numerical experimental measurements. The reconstructions indicate significantly reduced as compared to conventional counterparts.

High Resolution X-ray-Induced Acoustic Tomography

Absorption based CT imaging has been an invaluable tool in medical diagnosis, biology, and materials science. However, CT requires a large set of projection data and high radiation dose to achieve superior image quality. In this letter, we report a new imaging modality, X-ray Induced Acoustic Tomography (XACT), which takes advantages of high sensitivity to X-ray absorption and high ultrasonic r...

X-ray computed tomography.

X-ray computed tomography (CT), introduced into clinical practice in 1972, was the first of the modern slice-imaging modalities. To reconstruct images mathematically from measured data and to display and to archive them in digital form was a novelty then and is commonplace today. CT has shown a steady upward trend with respect to technology, performance and clinical use independent of predictio...

Artifacts in X-ray Dark-Field Tomography

Grating-based x-ray imaging provides three principle kinds of contrast: absorption, phase, and dark-field. Due to the availability of tomographic reconstruction algorithms for the dark-field contrast, it is now possible to take advantage of quantitative scatter information. However, the published algorithm is based on several assumptions that might be violated in reality. We use numerical simul...

An iterative method to estimate x-ray attenuation coefficients in computed tomography

Introduction: The basis of image formation in Computed Tomography (CT) lies in the x-ray linear attenuation coefficient of the scanned material. Compton scattering and photoelectric effect are the dominant interactions of the x-ray photons with the subject, in the range of diagnostic radiology. These two coefficients are important in tissue characterization by Dual-Energy CT (D...

X-ray acoustic computed tomography with pulsed x-ray beam from a medical linear accelerator.

PURPOSE The feasibility of medical imaging using a medical linear accelerator to generate acoustic waves is investigated. This modality, x-ray acoustic computed tomography (XACT), has the potential to enable deeper tissue penetration in tissue than photoacoustic tomography via laser excitation. METHODS Short pulsed (μs-range) 10 MV x-ray beams with dose-rate of approximately 30 Gy∕min were ge...
