Rice blast: strategies and challenges for improving genetic resistance

چکیده
Rice blast, caused by the fungus Pyricularia oryzae L., is considered one of main threats to world rice production. The development resistant cultivars best and sustainable control alternatives. Plant breeding efforts have been accelerated genetic mapping (linkage associative) marker assisted selection. On other hand, genomic editing techniques, such as meganucleases (MNs), Zinc-finger nucleases (ZFNs), Transcription Activator-like Effector Nucleases (TALENs) Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindrome Repeats/CRISPR-associated protein 9 (CRISPR/Cas9), can be used promote specific modifications. Likewise, transgenics also manipulate genes. In this sense, work aims characterize blast elucidate available biotechnological alternatives accelerate improved blast.

Rice is a staple and most important security food crop consumed by almost half of the world's population. More rice production is needed due to the rapid population growth in the world. Rice blast caused by the fungus, Magnaporthe oryzae is one of the most destructive diseases of this crop in different part of the world. Breakdown of blast resistance is the major cause of yield instability in s...
متن کاملThe Mediation Mechanism for Flood-Induced Rice Blast Field Resistance
Rice blast, an erratic niche disease incited by Magnaporthe grisea Cav., frequently limits rough rice yields and grower cultivar options in Arkansas rice production areas. Scientists poorly understand why some blast-susceptible varieties such as ‘Newbonnet’, ‘LaGrue’, ‘Mars’, and ‘Cypress’ become increasingly more blast resistant if grown in continuously flooded soil. A greenhouse depth-of-floo...

The genetic variation in resistance to blast (Pyricularia oryzae Cavara) in 195 rice accessions comprising 3 species of the AA genome complex (Asian rice [Oryza sativa L.], African rice [Oryza glaberrima Steud.] and wild rice [Oryza barthii]) was investigated based on their patterns of reaction to standard differential blast isolates (SDBIs) and SSR marker polymorphism data. Cluster analysis of...
