چکیده

Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L) which is highly consumed by humans, suffer severe attacks of various pathogens. Among these pathogens, Phytophthora infestans the most prominent causing a devastating tomato disease called late blight. This study was aimed at evaluating protective effects Rhizopus spp on plant growth upon infection with P. infestans. The work partition into two phases: phase 1 delt effect parameters while 2 against blight in and its attributes biochemical parameters. In seedlings were raised divided five groups six plants each. Group I control Groups II to V treated (2.5; 5.0; 7.5 10.0 mg/ml respectively) for 25 days. After every 5 days’ each day treatment, (number leaves height) chlorophyll contents measured. On 25, samples collected analysis (flavonoids, phenolic content, total protein, vitamin C, catalase (CAT), reduced glutathione (GSH)). 2, obtained as best results one used. Raised four groups: healthy (H), infected (50 mg/ml) (I), 3 stimulated (5.0 (St), 4 inoculated after stimulation (St + I) 7days. Every days, diseases incidence severity recorded 10th days (total CAT GSH) analysis. As results, inoculation induced an increase number leaves, height compared group (Rhizopus 5.0 having result. A significant (p< 0.05) flavonoid, level activity recorded. Another pathogen when control. Co-inoculation significantly decreased severity. Also decrease GSH noticed. increased group. conclusion instigate induce resistance

Targeted and Untargeted Approaches Unravel Novel Candidate Genes and Diagnostic SNPs for Quantitative Resistance of the Potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) to Phytophthora infestans Causing the Late Blight Disease

The oomycete Phytophthora infestans causes late blight of potato, which can completely destroy the crop. Therefore, for the past 160 years, late blight has been the most important potato disease worldwide. The identification of cultivars with high and durable field resistance to P. infestans is an objective of most potato breeding programs. This type of resistance is polygenic and therefore qua...

Fractionation, Stability, and Isolate-Specificity of QTL for Resistance to Phytophthora infestans in Cultivated Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum)

Cultivated tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) is susceptible to late blight, a major disease caused by Phytophthora infestans, but quantitative resistance exists in the wild tomato species S. habrochaites. Previously, we mapped several quantitative trait loci (QTL) from S. habrochaites and then introgressed each individually into S. lycopersicum. Near-isogenic lines (NILs) were developed, each conta...

The Late Blight Pathogen, Phytophthora infestans Interaction with the Potato Plant and Inoculum Sources

The oomycete, Phytophthora infestans, is one of the most important plant pathogens worldwide. This thesis focuses on the late blight pathogen and its host, potato (Solanum tuberosum), and the interaction between these two organisms. Resistance to P. infestans was evaluated histologically, using leaves of potato cultivars with varying levels of general resistance. Preinfectional events could be ...

Contrasting Potato Foliage and Tuber Defense Mechanisms against the Late Blight Pathogen Phytophthora infestans

The late blight pathogen Phytophthora infestans can attack both potato foliage and tubers. When inoculated with P. infestans, foliage of nontransformed 'Russet Burbank' (WT) develops late blight disease while that of transgenic 'Russet Burbank' line SP2211 (+RB) does not. We compared the foliar transcriptome responses of these two lines to P. infestans inoculation using an RNA-seq approach. A t...
