Rhizobium alamii improves water stress tolerance in a non-legume

چکیده
With the increasing demand for alternative solutions to replace or optimize use of synthetic fertilizers and pesticides, inoculation bacteria that can contribute growth health plants (PGPR) is essential. The properties classically sought in PGPR are production phytohormones other growth-promoting molecules, more rarely exopolysaccharides. We compared effect two strains exopolysaccharide-producing Rhizobium alamii on rapeseed grown a calcareous silty-clay soil under water stress conditions not. factors ‘water stress’ ‘inoculation’ were evaluated plant parameters diversity microbiota associated root root-adhering compartments. Water resulted significant decrease leaf area, shoot biomass RAS/RT ratio (root-adhering soil/root tissues), as well overall beta-diversity. Inoculation with R. YAS34 GBV030 water-stress produced same dry uninoculated treatment absence stress, both increased water-stressed (+7% +15%, respectively). Only significantly unstressed non-inoculated control (+39% Alpha-diversity root-associated after was reduced. Beta-diversity modified conditions. LEfSe analysis identified characteristic bacterial families, Flavobacteriaceae Comamonadaceae, RT RAS compartments inoculated by conditions, Halomonadaceae (RT) several species belonging Actinomycetales (RAS). showed had growth, its tolerance probably involving capacity produce exopolysaccharides, (PGP) traits.

Lipopolysaccharides in Rhizobium-legume symbioses.
The establishment of nitrogen-fixing symbiosis between a legume plant and its rhizobial symbiont requires that the bacterium adapt to changing conditions that occur with the host plant that both promotes and allows infection of the host root nodule cell, regulates and resists the host defense response, permits the exchange of metabolites, and contributes to the overall health of the host. This ...
متن کاملStabilizing mechanisms in a legume-rhizobium mutualism.
Preferential rewarding of more beneficial partners may stabilize mutualisms against the invasion of less beneficial, that is cheater, genotypes. Recent evidence suggests that both partner choice and sanctioning may play roles in preventing the invasion of less-beneficial rhizobia in legume-rhizobium mutualisms. The importance of these mechanisms in natural communities, however, remains unclear....
متن کاملHydroxylated ornithine lipids increase stress tolerance in Rhizobium tropici CIAT899.
Ornithine lipids (OLs) are widespread among Gram-negative bacteria. Their basic structure consists of a 3-hydroxy fatty acyl group attached in amide linkage to the α-amino group of ornithine and a second fatty acyl group ester-linked to the 3-hydroxy position of the first fatty acid. OLs can be hydroxylated within the secondary fatty acyl moiety and this modification has been related to increas...
متن کاملEnhancing water stress tolerance improves fitness in biological control strains of Lactobacillus plantarum in plant environments
Lactobacillus plantarum strains PM411 and TC92 can efficiently control bacterial plant diseases, but their fitness on the plant surface is limited under unfavourable low relative humidity (RH) conditions. To increase tolerance of these strains to water stress, an adaptive strategy was used consisting of hyperosmotic and acidic conditions during growth. Adapted cells had higher survival rates un...
متن کاملMitigation of Cu stress by legume-Rhizobium symbiosis in white lupin and soybean plants.
The effect of Bradyrhizobium-legume symbiosis on plant growth, toxicological variables and Cu bioaccumulation was studied in white lupin and soybean plants treated with 1.6, 48, 96 and 192 μM Cu. In both species, those plants grown in the presence of root nodule-forming symbiotic Bradyrhizobium showed less root and shoot growth reduction, plus greater translocation of Cu to the shoot, than thos...
