Introduction to Rf Linear Accelerators
After a short introduction to applications of RF linacs and their advantages and drawbacks as opposed to circular accelerators, the model of RF resonant cavities and their excitation by RF sources or beam is introduced. Then beam dynamics notions, essential to linacs, such as transit-time factor, synchronism, r.m.s. properties, matching and mismatching in linear or nonlinear forces, are presented.
متن کاملNew Method of Quality Control Test for Light and Radiation Field Coincidence in Medical Linear Accelerators
Introduction: The evaluation of X-ray and light field coincidence in linear accelerators as a quality control test is often performed subjectively, involving the manual marking of films and their visual inspection following the irradiation. Therefore, the present study aimed to develop an objective method for the performance of this test leading to the increased levels...
متن کاملExperiments on Gradient Limits for Normal Conducting Accelerators
The accelerating gradient is one of the crucial parameters affecting the design, construction and cost of nextgeneration linear accelerators. For a specified final energy, the gradient sets the accelerator length, and for a given accelerating structure and pulse repetition rate, it determines power consumption. In this paper experimental results and problems related to breakdown damage, pulsed ...
متن کاملPrinciples of DC and RF Linear 11 Accelerators
Ancient Greeks and Indians had the conception of atoms. They thought and debated in great lengths about the fundamental constituents of matter. They were limited in what they can do, besides talking, due to the paucity of Particle Accelarators. In the last few decades, this has been rectified. We have many particle accelerators. Particle accelerators are what Feynman described as smashing swiss...
متن کاملHigh-gradient Normal-conducting Rf Structures for Muon Cooling Channels
We present a status report on the research and development of high-gradient normal-conducting RF structures for the ionization cooling of muons in a neutrino factory or muon collider. High-gradient RF structures are required in regions enclosed in strong focussing solenoidal magnets, precluding the application of superconducting RF technology [1]. We propose using linear accelerating structures...
