Revisiting Reid on Religion

This paper answers two interpretive questions surrounding belief in God Thomas Reid's philosophy, the status question and detachability question. The former has to do with type of justification Reid assigns – immediate or mediate. later is whether anything philosophically significant depends on his God. I argue that, for Reid, immediately justified integral some parts system. response skepticism about more complicated interesting than many contemporary philosophers who, citing as inspiration, also hold that enjoys justification. In hands approach does not compete inferential justification, rely a special faculty, foregrounds developmental character epistemology.
