Revisited Estimation of Moderate Resolution Sargassum Fractional Coverage Using Decametric Satellite Data (S2-MSI)

چکیده
Since 2011, massive stranding of the brown algae Sargassum has regularly affected coastal waters West Caribbean, Brazil and Africa, leading to significant environmental socio-economic impacts. The AFAI algal index (Alternative Floating Algae Index) is often used with remote sensing data in order estimate coverage, more precisely deviation, which consists difference between Sargassum-free background. In this study, deviation computed using NASA’s 1 km Terra/MODIS (Moderate-Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer) ESA/Copernicus’s 20 m Sentinel-2/MSI (Multi Spectral Instrument) for same sites at time. Both MODIS MSI deviations are compared confirm relevance technique two very different spatial resolutions. A high coefficient determination was found, thus confirming a satisfactory downsampling from (MSI) (MODIS). Then, fractional coverage (noted FC). new linear relationship FC established dense aggregations observed by data. proportional factor proportionality close 0.08. Finally, it shown that dependent on spectral reflectance, submersion or physiological state.

estimation of evapotranspiration using satellite image data in mashhad area
abstract evapotranspiration (et) determination is a key factor for irrigation scheduling, water balance, irrigation system design and management and crop yields simulation. therefore many scientists have tried to estimate evapotranspiration in different spatial and temporal scales. remote sensing is a one of new technique in estimation of et in regional scales. so, in this study it’s tried to e...
متن کاملTsunami Damage Detection Using Moderate-resolution Satellite Imagery
A moment-magnitude 9.0 earthquake struck the area off the western coast of northern Sumatra on 26 December 2004, which triggered massive tsunamis inundating the coastal areas in the countries along the Indian Ocean Rim. Various moderateto high-resolution satellite images were obtained before and after the tsunami attack and used for emergency management. High-resolution satellite (e.g. IKONOS) ...
متن کاملEstimation and Analysis of Precipitable Water Vapor Using GPS Data and Satellite Altimeter
Determination of water vapor in the atmosphere plays an important role in forecasting weather conditions and precipitation studies. For this reason, it is very important to study the tropospheric delay, especially the wet component, which is due to the presence of water vapor in the atmosphere. In this paper, the amount of water vapor was estimated by altimeter satellite radiometer and GPS data...
متن کاملFractional vegetation cover estimation in arid and semi-arid environments using HJ-1 satellite hyperspectral data
This paper evaluates the usefulness of the hyperspectral imager (HSI) onboard Chinese HJ-1-A small satellite in vegetation mapping. Fractional vegetation cover (FVC) is an important surface microclimate parameter for characterizing land surface vegetation cover as well as the most effective indicator for assessing desertification and crop growth condition. The HJ-1/HSI data were used to calcula...
متن کاملEstimation of Residential Population Using High Resolution Satellite Imagery
This paper reports the preliminary results of a project on using IKONOS imagery to estimate the size and spatial distribution of urban residential population. Three questions were addressed. Firstly, the utility of a textural classifier based on Gray Level Cooccurance Matrix (GLCM) to interpret IKONOS imagery was examined. It is found that although texture is useful, other types of information,...
