The Fifth Generation (5G) Network will bring different types of services, namely: EMBB, mMTC and URLLC as more devices connect to the network, each user device request for data capacity continue grow. increase in number require an network capacity, which also need Base Stations network. More Mobile Operator’s capital investment operation costs. However, this CAPEX OPEX not provide a corresponding ARPU users tend be less willing pay their increases. vendors Operators face challenge providing higher same or customers maintain customer base business profitability. C-RAN was identified new promising paradigm help reduce while delivering maintaining How resources are allocated managed within 5G determine how efficient profitable optimisation process be. In article, we high-level review crucial enabling Technologies exhaustive resource allocation algorithms networks with emphasis on metrics/parameters. main metrics considered work include BBU computational/processing resource, Power/ energy consumption, wavelength, UE-RRH mapping RRH-BBU mapping. Furthermore, Energy Harvesting is discussed, including its architecture, categorised taxonomy requirements. Lastly, future research directions open issues highlighted.
