Review: emulsion techniques for producing polymer based drug delivery systems

نویسندگان

چکیده

Emulsification method is one of the popular methods for producing materials used inbiosensing, bioimaging and others, especially, drug delivery polymer systems in microsize andnanosize. The concrete techniques related to this are emulsification, self-emulsification,in a combination with solvent evaporation process, homogenization, or ultranosication. Thestructure emulsion formulation consists two phases: an internal phase externalphase. Based on structure nature phases, emulsions can be classified into differenttypes such as two-phase (oil water (O/W) oil (W/O))or three-phase (water triple (W/O/W) tripleemulsion (O/W/O)). droplet sizes micro-emulsion often higher than 1 ?mwhile those nano-emulsions mini-emulsions range 100-500 nm. Some specialnano-emulsion contain droplets size few nanometers. Factors includingsolvents, oil/water ratio, size, composition raw materials, emulsifiers, etc. affect morphology, properties, obtained products. Thispaper reviews which have been applied polymeric drugdelivery systems. components, characteristics, encapsulation efficiency wellas release rate, solubility, toxicity administration efficacy emulsionformulations will mentioned. Advantages limitations alsodiscussed.
