Reverse Osmosis Membrane Combined with Ultrasonic Cleaning for Flue Gas Desulfurization Wastewater Treatment

Flue gas desulfurization (FGD) wastewater treatment is currently of interest, as stringent standards have been released in order to limit the pollution emissions from energy industry, and concerns about water scarcity are also increasing. Reverse osmosis (RO) membrane a promising alternative for highly efficient FGD treatment. However, fouling strongly limits its application. This study developed suitable system by combining RO with ultrasonic cleaning. The introduction low-frequency high-intensity cleaning improved efficiency fouling, permeate flux recovered 49% reduced value within 10 min lifespan was extended, time declined same level, increasing 2 h 4 after effluent could meet standard feasible at laboratory scale. These findings proved that combination be applied provided an efficient, cost-saving, convenient way develop system.
