چکیده
Background: The management of Chronic Suppurative Otitis Media primarily employs the use of antimicrobial agents. In light of varying susceptibility infective organisms associated with Chronic to antimicrobials; with respect to geography, patient peculiarities and rise in antimicrobial resistance, it is important study these patterns susceptibility/resistance to aid rational antimicrobials. Knowing would help curtail excessive (most times, unjustififiable) antimicrobials, leading reduced side effffects and cost. Hence, this aimed at studying at National Ear Care Centre, Kaduna, Nigeria. Methods: was conducted Care Kaduna. It involved a retrospective review Culture and sensitivity results patients across all age groups who presented to within a period 2 years (February 2018 – January 2020). Total number 315 cases identifified, 253 case fifiles retrieved. Sensitivity data (for with such) were extracted entered into Microsoft Excel 2010 for descriptive analysis. Results: Of presented CSOM, only (80.32%) accounted for. Patient ages ranges from 0.2 years 78 (Mean 22.8 years), prevalence highest amongst age group 0-5 (n=69, 21.9%). Clinical Isolates were Pseudomonas aeruginosa (n=32, 50.0%), Staphylococcus aureus (n=20, 31.25%), Streptococcus specie (n=5, 7.81%), Candida (n=3, 4.69%), Proteus (n=2, 3.13%), Klebsiella (n=1, 1.56%) Escherichia coli (n=1, 1.56%); Staphylococcus aureus, specie, and Candida isolates found predominate male. Antibiotic greatest the Quinolones (89.4%), amongst recommended antimicrobials treating Suppurative Otitis Media, which are study. Conclusion: This showed that both gram positive negative bacteria signifificantly involved aetiology single in majority cases. Treatment best guided by data. However, broad spectrum antibiotics (Quinolones) option empirical treatment.

متن کاملA Study of Bacterial Profile and Antibiotic Susceptibility Pattern of Chronic Suppurative Otitis Media (CSOM)
CSOM is mostly caused by bacteria, but fungi and virus can also be a cause of CSOM. The aerobic microorganisms most frequently isolated in CSOM are Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, Gram-negative organisms such as Proteus spp., Klebsiella spp., and Escherichia spp., Citrobacter species, Haemophilus influenzae, and Moraxella catarrhalis (Gül et al., 2006; Verhoeff et al., 2006; de M...
