Retrospective SPECT/CT dosimetry following transarterial radioembolization

چکیده
Transarterial radioembolization (TARE) effectively treats unresectable primary and metastatic liver tumors through intra-arterial injection of Yttrium-90 (90Y) beta particle emitting microspheres which implant around the tumor. Current dosimetry models are highly simplistic there is a large need for an image-based post-TARE, would improve treatment safety efficacy. post-TARE imaging 90Y bremsstrahlung SPECT/CT we study use these images dosimetry. Retrospective image review ten patients having Philips HealthcareTM following TARE SIR-Spheres® implantation. Emission series with attenuation correction were resampled to 3 mm resolution used create dose distributions. Dose distributions analysis performed in MIM Software SurePlanTM utilizing Local Deposition Method (LDM) convolution method (WFBH). We sought implement patient-specific background subtraction prior calculation make noisy SPECT suitable On average percentage mean counts maximum count across all was 9.4 ± 4.9% (maximum = 7.6%, minimum 2.3%). Absolute increased profile line width decreased as value increased. The LDM WFBH methods statistically same. As increased, DVH curves become unrealistic distorted. Background on has effect contour defined provides systematic estimate activity that accounts scanner patient conditions at time easily implemented using commercially available software. Locoregional Transarterial Therapies for Hepatocellular Carcinoma: Transarterial Chemoembolization and Radioembolization
Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the sixth most common cancer in the world and the third most common cause of cancer-related mortality. Despite the widespread implementation of surveillance programs, more than half of the patients with HCC are diagnosed at late stages, when curative treatments (resection or liver transplantation) cannot be applied. For patients presenting with unre...
متن کاملTransarterial radioembolization for hepatocellular carcinoma: a review
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common type of liver cancer and is the second cause of death due to malignancy in the world. The treatment of HCC is complex and includes potentially curative and palliative approaches. However, both curative and palliative treatments for HCC are often associated with a not-completely favorable safety/efficacy ratio. Therefore, other treatment options ...
متن کاملA Comparison of Techniques for 90Y PET/CT Image-Based Dosimetry Following Radioembolization with Resin Microspheres
(90)Y PET/CT following radioembolization has recently been established as a viable diagnostic tool, capable of producing images that are both quantitative and have superior image quality than alternative (90)Y imaging modalities. Because radioembolization is assumed to be a permanent implant, it is possible to convert quantitative (90)Y PET image sets into data representative of spatial committ...
متن کاملTransarterial radioembolization for hepatocellular carcinoma: An update and perspectives.
In the last decade trans-arterial radioembolization has given promising results in the treatment of patients with intermediate or advanced stage hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), both in terms of disease control and tolerability profile. This technique consists of the selective intra-arterial administration of microspheres loaded with a radioactive compound (usually Yttrium(90)), and exerts its t...
متن کاملInternal dosimetry for radioembolization therapy with Yttrium‐90 microspheres
The absorbed doses in the liver and adjacent viscera in Yttrium-90 radioembolization therapy for metastatic liver lesions are not well-documented. We sought for a clinically practical way to determine the dosimetry of this advent treatment. Six different female XCAT BMIs and seven different male XCAT BMIs were generated. Using Monte Carlo GATE code simulation, the total of 100MBq 90 Y was depos...
