Retailing Strategies of West African Itinerant Immigrant Traders in Ghana

While Ghana remains a key destination for West African itinerant immigrant traders, studies examining their retail strategies appear missing in the Ghanaian migration literature. Applying mixed methods design, quantitative and qualitative data were obtained from 779 vendors 9 informants. In tandem with this design (mixed methods), interview schedule in-depth guide employed to collect analysis. The results indicate that most of respondents exhibited entrepreneurial prowess by constructing network clients around business. findings they sustained selling wares at reduced prices supplier price being determinant. Such traders usually prefer cash payments products street vending main strategy. Primarily, them advertised shouting draw attention what sell while others increased sales using flattery persuasive language. Chi-square test revealed significant nexus between vendors’ countries origin various techniques used goods. study unveils fact aspiring entrepreneurs shop retailers could experiment pricing strategy these increase sale values.
