چکیده

Background: Postoperative fluid management is vital for preventing perioperative morbidity and mortality in high-complexity advanced ovarian cancer surgery. We investigated the feasibility benefits of restrictive therapy on postoperative recovery. Methods: Patients with who underwent open radical surgery were randomized into or liberal group. The endpoints length hospital stay post-surgery incidence complications within 30 days. Results: regimen groups included 41 patients, respectively. was 16.5-days 21.0-days group, respectively (p = 0.035). Multiple linear regression analysis showed that 2.971-days shorter group than (95% confidence interval (CI): –5.818~–0.124, p 0.04). at end days significantly lower intravenous (26.7% versus 51.2%; 0.032). Adjusted logistic demonstrated could reduce risk by 68% (Odds Ratio 0.32, 95% CI: 0.11–0.91, 0.033). Conclusions: Restrictive after can decrease major facilitate

Complications after pancreaticoduodenectomy are associated with higher amounts of intra- and postoperative fluid therapy: A single center retrospective cohort study

BACKGROUND Perioperative mortality after pancreaticoduodenectomy has decreased significantly in high-volume centers, but morbidity remains high. Restrictive perioperative fluid management may contribute to reduced complication rates after various surgical procedures. The aim of this study was to determine whether there is a correlation between the amount of fluid administered and postoperative ...

Clinicopathological characteristics and optimal management for esophagogastric junctional cancer; a single center retrospective cohort study

BACKGROUND Esophagogastric junctional (EGJ) cancer occurs in the mucosa near the esophagogastric junction, and has characteristics of both esophageal and gastric malignancies; its optimal treatment strategy is controversial. METHODS We conducted a single-center retrospective cohort study of the patients who underwent curative surgery with lymphadenectomy for EGJ cancer. Tumor specimens were c...

I-124 pre-therapy dosimetry for the treatment of differentiated thyroid cancer: A single center experience

Introduction:The maximum tolerable activity (MTA) of I-131 in radioiodine therapy is an established surrogate quantity to ensure that the therapeutic activity does not produce severe damages to the bone marrow and lung. The aim of this study was to estimate the MTAs for high-risk patients using I-124 pre-therapy dosimetry and to compare the results with published literature. <...

High-dose chemoradiotherapy followed by surgery versus surgery alone in esophageal cancer: a retrospective cohort study

BACKGROUND We aimed to assess whether high-dose preoperative chemoradiotherapy (CRT) improves outcome in esophageal cancer patients compared to surgery alone and to define possible prognostic factors for overall survival. METHODS Hundred-and-seven patients with disease stage IIA - III were treated with either surgery alone (n = 45) or high-dose preoperative CRT (n = 62). The data were collect...

Using clinical parameters to guide fluid therapy in high-risk thoracic surgery. A retrospective, observational study

BACKGROUND Despite extensive research, the debate continues as to the optimal way of guiding intraoperative and postoperative fluid therapy. In 2009 we changed our institutional guideline for perioperative fluid therapy in patients undergoing extrapleural pneumonectomy (EPP) and implemented the use of central venous oxygen saturation and intended low urine output to guide therapy in the early p...
