Responses of adult spotted lanternflies to artificial aggregations composed of all males or females

چکیده
Spotted lanternflies (SLF) Lycorma delicatula are economically important invasive planthoppers discovered in North America 2014. SLF gregarious, but how they locate each other, or who finds whom and when, is poorly understood. Here we describe adult behavior phenology on their preferred host, Ailanthus altissima , under field conditions, the context of both aggregation mate-location, since demonstrated prior to mating. We documented adults found could manipulate free-living populations number sex ratio by placement confined males females trees. Trap capture arriving was significantly higher trees with aggregations than control trees, corroborated photographic data, demonstrating manipulation attraction behavior. Sex ratios trapped arrivals were more male-biased female-biased females, evidence that male- observed naturally can be explained sex-specific conspecific signals. shifted over time same pattern two consecutive years. A mark-release-recapture study 1) density dependent strongly influenced natural populations, 2) released captured caged particularly mating, 3) starting at mating time. Photographic data revealed most clustering (a measure courtship) began during time, not controls. male female whereby occurs, arrive different times, aggregate several weeks 4) subsequently joined 5) continued into oviposition. Population key factors history which manipulated, providing a foothold for future research. Possible mechanisms exploration discussed.

jumping on everyone else’s bandwagon, but has anyone ever evaluated the ‘science forecast’ ten years down the road? Nevertheless, this chapter provides several extremely useful starting points. The chapters are a bit heterogeneous in style, with some having glossaries and/or useful ‘future directions’ sections, whilst others do not. However, the quality of the chapters is consistently high, and...

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES The purpose of the present study was to provide the hearing threshold levels in the elderly Korean population, and to compare Korean data with that in the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 7029 (2000). SUBJECTS AND METHODS Data were collected from a total of 526 ears from 112 males and 151 females aged 60-84 years. All participants were screened ot...
متن کاملBMI can influence adult males’ and females’ airway hyperresponsiveness differently
UNLABELLED BACKGROUND Epidemiological data indicate that obesity is a risk factor for asthma, but scientific literature is still debating the association between changes in body mass index (BMI) and airway hyperresponsiveness (AHR). METHODS This study aimed at evaluating the influence of BMI on AHR, in outpatients with symptoms suggestive of asthma.4,217 consecutive adult subjects (2,439 M...
متن کاملdetection of volatile compounds of medicinal plants with some nano-sorbents using modified or new methodologies and investigation of antioxidant activity of their methanolic extracts
in this work, a novel and fast method for direct analysis of volatile compounds (davc) of medicinal plants has been developed by holding a filament from different parts of a plant in the gc injection port. the extraction and analysis of volatile components of a small amount of plant were carried out in one-step without any sample preparation. after optimization of temperature, extraction time a...
