Response Surface Optimization of Flavonoids Extraction, Beta Carotene Bleaching and Lipid-reducing Capacity of Nelumbo nucifera Seed Kernel Extracts

Abstract: Aim/Background: The safe and complete extraction of flavonoids from plant material influenced by various factors has been ever challenging for the researchers. study was planned to optimize nucifera seeds their antioxidant activity. Materials Methods: were extracted at combination four including particle size flour in terms sieve number (SN), microwave treatment time (MTT), concentration methanol as extracting solvent (CM) soaking (ST) each five levels using a response surface central composite design. extracts analyzed total flavonoid content (TFC), ?-carotene bleaching capacity (BCBC) linoleic acid reduction (LARC). Results: A statistically significant (p<0.05) effect observed on TFC, BCBC LARC. linear positive MTT CM quadratic SN TFC. LARC also found be increased linearly increasing SN, CM. MTT, ST obtain optimal value TFC (1.468 g/100g dry weight) 132.94 meshes/inch, 1.85 min, 99.87% 3.06 h respectively. Conclusion: increase may attributed microwaveassisted release bound amphiphilic structure. data would valuable guideline researchers regarding potential.
