چکیده

Aims: SARTEC conducted an experimental study with the objective of determining effects various nitrogen rates on sunflower growth and yield in Afgoi district, Lower Shabelle region.
Materials Methods: The was carried out at farm during Der season 2020. experiment used a Russian kind laid Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) four replications plots for each. crop fertilized different N 50, 100, 150 kg ha-1, control/unfertilized plot included each replications. Plant height, head diameter, hundred-seed weight, seed, straw, biological yield, as well harvest index, were all measured five plants from data collection.
Results: fertilizer applied to resulted highly significant variations components. Seed-related parameters like seed weight influenced substantially more than other variables, including plant height; stem straw yield. Despite having highest ha-1 not cost-effective 100 ha-1.
Conclusion: In Somalia, per hectare is ideal rate maximizing revenue production while adhering best management practices.

TOLERANCE OF SUNFLOWER (Helianthus annuus L.) TO IMAZETHAPYR

The response of RIMI [imazethapyr-tolerant (T)] sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) hybrid and the local imazethapyr-sensitive hybrid "Zoltan" (S) was investigated under controlled conditions. Hybrids grown in pots were treated post-emergence with imazethapyr at the two pairs of leaves stage. Visual injury evaluation and vegetative parameters were recorded. ALS (acetolactate synthase) enzyme activ...

Cavitation fatigue and its reversal in sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.).

"Cavitation fatigue" is the increased susceptibility of a xylem conduit to cavitation as a result of its prior cavitation. It was investigated whether cavitation fatigue induced in vivo could be repaired in intact plants. Sunflowers (Helianthus annuus L.) were subjected to soil drought in the greenhouse. Native embolism and vulnerability to cavitation was measured in well-watered controls and a...

Elevated CO2 concentrations alter nitrogen metabolism and accelerate senescence in sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) plants

Elevated CO2 concentrations were found to cause early senescence during leaf development in sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) plants, probably by reducing nitrogen availability since key enzymes of nitrogen metabolism, including nitrate reductase (NR); glutamine synthetase (GS) and glutamate dehydrogenase (GDH), were affected. Elevated CO2 concentrations significantly decreased the activity of n...

Response of Sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) Leaf Surface Defenses to Exogenous Methyl Jasmonate

Helianthus annuus, the common sunflower, produces a complex array of secondary compounds that are secreted into glandular trichomes, specialized structures found on leaf surfaces and anther appendages of flowers. The primary components of these trichome secretions are sesquiterpene lactones (STL), a diverse class of compounds produced abundantly by the plant family Compositae and believed to co...
