Response of Forage Yield and its Components to Autumn and Spring Sowing Dates of Alfalfa (Medicago sativa)

This investigation was carried out at Agronomy Department Farm, Faculty of Agriculture, Assiut University, Egypt, to study the effect temperature resulting from different sowing dates, genotypes and their interaction on forage yield its components alfalfa. A set ten (Ismailia-1, Nubaria-1, Ramah-1, populations F.R.S., Kharja, El-Dahlia, Farafra, Balady Aswan Cuf 101) were sown five dates (three autumn, October 10th (D1), November (D2), December (D3), beside two spring i.e. March 20th (D4), April (D5). Two experiments as experiment I (2017-2019) II (2018-2020). Each included all autumn dates. The split block design with three replications used in both experiments. Fifteen cuts taken years each date for experiment. results showed that had highly significant plant height, leaves/stem ratio, total fresh, dry protein yields experiments, except among studied which non-significant. While, between x insignificant traits highest mean values height obtained plants fourth (March D4) fifth (April D5) (D2) (D3) gave leaves/stems ratio.
