Selecting detection wavelength of resonant cavity-enhanced photodetectors by guided-mode resonance reflectors.
We propose and demonstrate a novel device structure of resonant cavity-enhanced photodetector (RCE-PD). The new RCE-PD structure consists of a bottom distributed Bragg reflector (DBR), a cavity with InGaAs multiple quantum wells (MQWs) for light absorption and a top mirror of sub-wavelength grating. By changing the fill factor of the 2-D grating, the effective cavity length of RCE-PDs can be va...
متن کاملextremal region detection guided by maxima of gradient magnitude
a problem of computer vision applications is to detect regions of interest under dif- ferent imaging conditions. the state-of-the-art maximally stable extremal regions (mser) detects affine covariant regions by applying all possible thresholds on the input image, and through three main steps including: 1) making a component tree of extremal regions’ evolution (enumeration), 2) obtaining region ...
Guided mode biosensor based on grating coupled porous silicon waveguide.
Porous silicon waveguide biosensors that utilize grating couplers etched directly into porous silicon are demonstrated for improved molecular detection capabilities. Molecules are infiltrated through the grating couplers into the waveguide where they can interact with a guided waveguide mode. Hybridization of nucleic acids inside the waveguide is shown to significantly perturb the wave vector o...
متن کاملLong-wavelength mid-infrared reflectors using guided-mode resonance.
We have proposed and fabricated a new mid-infrared reflector using the guided-mode resonance (GMR). The GMR reflector consists of subwavelength Ge grating on GaAs substrate with a low-refractive-index SiOx layer in between. With a total thickness of about 2 μm, a near-100% reflectivity at 8 μm has been obtained both theoretically and experimentally.
متن کاملPressure-tunable guided-mode resonance sensor for single-wavelength characterization.
A method of tuning a one-dimensional guided-mode resonance grating through the use of an air-pressure-responsive membrane is demonstrated here using finite-element method simulation. The device consists of a titanium dioxide (TiO(2)) grating structure embedded in a flexible polydimethylsiloxane membrane. This grating has a resonant response to TM-polarized light at a wavelength dependent upon t...
