Abstract Large earthquakes are among the most dangerous natural disasters with potentially devastating effects on society and infrastructure across globe. In order to better understand earthquakes, research in active tectonics aims at quantifying crustal deformation throughout fault’s earthquake cycles by studying geomorphic stratigraphic evidence of recent past earthquakes. The underlying assumption this approach is that a current previous seismic behavior representative its future behavior. Constraining such manner requires high-resolution records enable us resolve spatial temporal characteristics co-, post-, interseismic phases, ideally over multiple cycles. Recent technological developments have dramatically increased not only amount resolution topographic geophysical survey data sets but also our ability date units surfaces.
