چکیده

The SHAllow RADar (SHARAD) onboard Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) is a 20 MHz Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) that probes the first hundreds of meters Martian subsurface. In order to interpret detection subsurface interfaces with ground penetrating radars, simulations using Digital Terrain Models (DTM) are necessary. This methodology paper focuses on analysis tens SHARAD, comparing use different high-resolution DTMs for radar simulation, namely, from High-Resolution Stereo Camera (HRSC) Express and Context (CTX) MRO. region Terra Cimmeria was chosen as demonstration area. It highly cratered southern midlatitude region, where, will be discussed, higher resolution aforementioned terrain models mandatory describe surface at an acceptable level detail shallow interpretation. With DTM corrected by photoclinometry CTX imagery, we show reflector visible SHARAD data but not simulation made HRSC is, in fact, echo reproduced model. We also that, unlike laser altimetry DTMs, optical prone artifacts can make more complicated some scenarios. Reciprocally, comparison between its corresponding simulated way assessing DTM’s quality, which especially useful missions where control points lacking, observations.

Terrain Analysis Using Digital Elevation Models in Hydrology

This paper describes methods that use digital elevation models (DEMs) in hydrology, implemented as an ArcGIS toolbar using Visual Basic and the ESRI object library. I describe generalized channel network delineation to objectively estimate drainage density and by using terrain curvature accommodate spatially variable drainage density. The multiple flow direction field determined from a DEM also...

Multi-resolution Representation of Digital Terrain and Building Models

This research develops effective algorithms for multi-resolution representations of three-dimensional (3D) digital terrain and building models to achieve better performance in cyber city applications. The objective is to create multiple levels of detail (LOD) of terrain meshes and polyhedral building models so they can be used efficiently according to viewing parameters and application requirem...

Resolving Ambiguities in Shape and Pole Models of 832 Karin

The Karin family is a main-belt family of newborn asteroids, resulting from a collision 5.8 ±0.2 Myr ago. The dynamically young age of the Karin family makes it an ideal candidate for study of the timescales of several post-formational processes, including YORP thermal effects. As the presumed parent body of the Karin family, 832 Karin is especially of interest in the study. Currently, the aste...

Resolving Motion Ambiguities

D. Geiger* Courant Institute, NYU Mercer Street New York, NY 10012 We address the problem of optical flow reconstruction and in particular the problem of resolving ambiguities near edges. They occur due to (i) the aperture problem and (ii) the occlusion problem, where pixels on both sides of an intensity edge are assigned the same velocity estimates (and confidence). However, these measurements...
