چکیده

Sugarcane (Saccharum spp.) is an important industrial crop and mainly grown for the sugar jaggery production. The major constraint in sugarcane cultivation outbreak of red rot disease many high yielding varieties succumb to disease-causing huge reduction cane yield also quality cane. very difficult manage as pathogen deep seated stalk. Exploitation host resistance viable way contain disease. clones developed were screened by artificial inoculation. Among 52 three viz., C15632, 16G032 16G031 behaved resistant thirteen C15004, C15006, C15011, C15021, C15095, C15157, C15559, C15603, 16G006, 16G087, 16G046, 15G060 15G028 moderately rot. Potentiality of Native Pseudomonas spp. in Promoting Sugarcane Seedling Growth and Red Rot (Colletotrichum falcatum went) Management

Sugarcane is an important cash crop grown in tropical and sub-tropical regions of the world. India is the second largest producer of sugar after Brazil and accounts for 16 per cent of world production (GOI, 2015). In Andhra Pradesh, sugarcane is grown in 1.39 lakh hectares with a production of 99.8 lakh tones. However, the sugarcane productivity (71 tonnes/ha) is very low compared to states lik...

Use of simple sequence repeat markers for DNA fingerprinting and diversity analysis of sugarcane (Saccharum spp) cultivars resistant and susceptible to red rot.

Red rod is an economically important disease of sugarcane caused by the fungus Colletotrichum falcatum. We used a simple sequence repeat (SSR)-based marker system to identify and analyze genetic relationships of red rot resistant and susceptible sugarcane cultivars grown in Pakistan. Twenty-one highly polymorphic SSR markers were used for DNA fingerprinting and genetic diversity analysis o...

Red rot resistant transgenic sugarcane developed through expression of β-1,3-glucanase gene

Sugarcane (Saccharum spp.) is a commercially important crop, vulnerable to fungal disease red rot caused by Colletotrichum falcatum Went. The pathogen attacks sucrose accumulating parenchyma cells of cane stalk leading to severe losses in cane yield and sugar recovery. We report development of red rot resistant transgenic sugarcane through expression of β-1,3-glucanase gene from Trichoderma spp...

Draft Genome Sequence of Colletotrichum falcatum - A Prelude on Screening of Red Rot Pathogen in Sugarcane

Colletotrichum falcatum, a concealed fungal ascomycete causes red rot, which is a serious disease in sugarcane. It infects economically important stalk tissues, considered as store house of sugar in sugarcane. The study is to find genetic complexities of C. falcatum in establishing this as a stalk infecting pathogen and to decipher the unique lifestyle of this pathogen using NGS technology. We ...
