Resistance and Resilience of Hyrcanian Mixed Forests Under Natural and Anthropogenic Disturbances

چکیده

Biological disturbances are integral to forest ecosystems and have pronounced effects on resistance, resilience, diversity. The Hyrcanian mixed forest, in northern Iran, is at risk of declining diversity due ongoing pressure from land use change, harvesting, biological disturbances. We analyzed the resistance resilience this area under two (i.e., oak charcoal fungus, Biscogniauxia mediterranea , alder leaf beetle, Galerucella lineola ) concert with proposed harvesting. used a simulation modeling approach whereby we simulated 12 combinations harvesting scenarios using LANDIS-II landscape change model. estimated correlation between tree species disturbance. full composition age class for 30 100 years after order assess as over time. considered ability recover disturbance back similar initial state. Results indicate positive effect Our simulations resulted negative relationship diversity-resistance diversity-resilience within high areas. reveals that disturbances, tested, fulfill goal maintaining However, increasing does not always follow by resilience. Scenarios both without lowest decrease resilient resistant.

Assessing Impact of Anthropogenic Disturbances on Forage Production in Arid and Semiarid Rangelands

Forage is one of the main products of rangeland ecosystems, which is threatened by different anthropogenic disturbances. This study was conducted to assess the impact of urbanization, rural development, agriculture extension, road construction and industry on forage production in an arid and semiarid rangeland using InVEST habitat quality model in spring 2018. In 14 rangeland types, thirty 2×1m...

Can forest management based on natural disturbances maintain ecological resilience?

Given the increasingly global stresses on forests, many ecologists argue that managers must maintain ecological resilience: the capacity of ecosystems to absorb disturbances without undergoing fundamental change. In this review we ask: Can the emerging paradigm of natural-disturbance-based management (NDBM) maintain ecological resilience in managed forests? Applying resilience theory requires c...

postnatal studies of bats (pipistrellus kuhlii and miniopterus schreibersii) & histomorphology and histochemistry studies of organs and diseases of (neurergus microspilotus and n. kaiseri)

1. to determine whether difference in birth body mass influenced growth performance in pipistrellus kuhlii we studied a total of 12 captive-born neonates. bats were assigned to two body mass groups: light birth body mass (lbw: 0.89 ± 0.05, n=8) and heavy birth body mass (hbw: 1.35 ± 0.08, n=4). heavier body mass at birth was associated with rapid postnatal growth (body mass and forearm length) ...

Morphotypes of Tilia spp. fruits in Hyrcanian forests

Variations in fruits morphology of Tilia spp. were studied along longitudinal and altitudinal range. Ten populations of Tilia spp.from Golestan, Mazandaran and Gilan Provinces (N. Iran) were selected. After biometrical measurements and Scanning Electron Microscopic (SEM), Cluster Analysis divided the population into seven groups. Discriminat Analysis showed that among all traits studied, size o...
