Residual strength of granitic rocks

چکیده

When carrying out compressive tests on rock specimens, a stress plateau is typically attained following peak strength within strain range few times larger than the at strength. This level commonly known as residual A large database of these granitic specimens has been compiled and analyzed in detail with aim improving understanding this type rock. It observed that physical scale does not significantly change threshold also shown to be independent initial jointing volume. The implication findings derived from specimen testing can potentially extended mass scale, least for rocks. Three one-parameter models have used fit laboratory test data rocks, all them are reasonably approximate actual data. Additionally, parameters varied studied rocks varying pre-jointing tend very different, covering limited values. Ultimately, potential errors simple excavation analysis might result priori assumptions regarding masses quantified.

Temperature effect on compression and collapsibility of residual granitic soil

This research aims to investigate the effect of temperature changes on the compression index and collapse potential of the residual granitic soil that is widely encountered in Malaysia. An experimental study was conducted on the compacted soil using a modified temperaturecontrolled oedometer. Temperatures of 27, 40, and 60 oC were applied on two series of soil specimens with different values of...

Mineral Chemistry of Chlorite Replacing Biotite from Granitic Rocks of the Canadian Appalachians

Chlorite flakes, as a product of alteration of biotite, the dominant ferromagnesian mineral in the Paleozoic granitic rocks of the Canadian Appalachians, have been analyzed by electron microprobe for major elements and by 57Fe M?ssbauer spectroscopy for the coordination and oxidation state of Fe. Comparison of M?ssbauer Fe3+/Fe ratios obtained from chlorite and its host biotite indicates that c...

Two-dimensional measurement of natural radioactivity of granitic rocks by photostimulated luminescence technique

Two-dimensional measurement of radiation produced by natural irradiation of granitic rocks was performed by the use of an imaging plate, which is a storage film coated with photostimulated phosphor (BaFBr:Eu2+). Radiation images of small volume specimens, such as thin sections were obtained with the imaging plate. Irradiation images of granitic rocks are inhomogeneous and the intensity of photo...

Isotopic geochronology of granitic rocks from the Central Iberian Zone: comparison of methodologies

Five granitic rocks, concentrically disposed from core to rim, were distinguished in the Castelo Branco pluton. U-Pb-Th electron microprobe monazite ages from granitic rocks are similar and ranging between 297-303 Ma. The granitic rocks from Castelo Branco pluton are 310 ± 1 Ma old, obtained by U-Pb (ID-TIMS) in separated zircon and monazite crystals, indicating a similar emplacement age for al...

Petrography and Physicomechanical Properties of Rocks from the Ambela Granitic Complex, NW Pakistan

Petrography and physicomechanical properties of alkali granites, alkali quartz syenite, and nepheline syenite from Ambela, NW Pakistan, have been investigated. Whereas the alkali quartz syenite and most of the alkali granites are megaporphyritic, the nepheline syenite and some of the alkali granites are microporphyritic. Their phenocryst shape and size and abundance of groundmass are also diffe...
