Research on Material Removal Mechanism of Micro-EDM in Deionized Water

As one of the most promising processing methods, microelectrical discharge machining (micro-EDM) process is widely used in industrial production; however, material removal mechanism micro-EDM deionized water has not been clarified due to scale effect. In this paper, influence parameters on crater size was studied by means a single-pulse experiment using resistor–capacitor circuit (RC circuit). The variation trend with open-circuit voltage and capacitance discussed based experimental results. results show that diameter depth increases increasing duration energy density plasma. increase voltage, which causes more materials melt vaporize, leading volume becoming larger. This study reference value for further application adopting as dielectric.
