Removal of Ammonium Ions from Aqueous Solutions Using Alkali-Activated Analcime as Sorbent

چکیده

Five alkali-activated analcime (ANA) sorbents (ANA-MK 1, ANA 2, 3, ANA-MK 4, and 5) were developed for ammonium (NH4+) ion removal. Acid treatment calcination used as pre-treatments analcime, metakaolin (MK) was a blending agent in three sorbents. Sorption experiments performed to evaluate the effects of sorbent dosage (1–20 g L−1), initial NH4+ concentration (5–1000 contact time (1 min–24 h). 4 most efficient removal, with maximum experimental sorption uptake 29.79, 26.00, 22.24 mg g−1, respectively. 3 5 demonstrated lower capacities at 7.18 12.65 The results ions onto surfaces modeled using several isotherms. Langmuir, Freundlich, Sips, Bi-Langmuir isotherms best isotherm models represent studied systems. kinetic studies showed removal percentage ~80%, except 5, which had ~70% Moreover, pseudo-first-order, pseudo-second-order, Elovich applied data. that process followed model, whereas pseudo-second-order model provided correlation 5.

Preparation of Nanochitosan as an Effective Sorbent for the Removal of Copper Ions from Aqueous Solutions

The most important pollutants in wastewater are heavy metal ions. In this paper, the effects of various parameters such as pH, contact time, initial concentration, and temperature on the adsorption of Cu (II) by nanochitosan (NCS) was investigated in batch experiment. Nanochitosan was prepared based on ionic gelation and characterized by means of Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR),...

Kinetic study of heavy metal ions removal from aqueous solutions using activated pumice stone

Background: The presence of heavy metals in aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems causes harmful effects to living organisms in the environment. This research aimed to determine the potential of activated pumice stone (APS) as a sorbent for the removal of Cd, Cu, and Zn from wastewater. Methods: This research was conducted during 2013 on a laboratory scale. The study was performed using batch exp...

The kinetics of the removal of copper ions from aqueous solutions using magnetic nanoparticles supported on activated carbon

Removal of Cu(II) from aqueous solution supplies is possible through the process of adsorption. One of these processes involves the preparation of magnetic nanoparticles on activated carbon (AC). Adsorbed coppre ions on the surface of Fe3O4-AC are separated from aqueous solutions using external magnetic fields. In the present study, magnetic nanoparticles were synthesized ...

Removal of Acid Dyes from Aqueous Solutions Using Orange Peel as a Sorbent Material

An agricultural by-product waste: orange peel was tested for the removal of four acid dyes from aqueous solutions in batch conditions. As results obtained, kinetics of dyes sorption was time of contact, initial dyes concentration and dyes type dependent. The pseudo second-order reaction rate model adequately described the kinetics of dyes sorption with high correlation coefficients. Langmuir mo...
