The Vikings are an excellent example of the significance cultural memory: from post-Viking-Age sources to their rediscovery in Victorian period popular appeal current times. Ancestry is a key dimension as vikings could be dynasty founders or imbue region with Scandinavian heritage. importance settlements remaining connected Iceland and Old Norse milieu highlighted.
