Relaxing the constant molar overflow assumption in distillation optimization

چکیده
The constant molar overflow (CMO) framework, while useful for shortcut distillation models, assumes that all components have the same latent heats of vaporization. A simple transformation, from flows to latent-heat flows, allows models retain mathematical simplicity CMO framework accounting different heats, resulting in heat transport (CHT) adiabatic columns. Although several past works already proposed this transformation literature, it has not been well utilized recent times. In article, we show utility upgrading various applications such as identifying energy-efficient multicomponent configurations based on duty rather than surrogate vapor flow. method transforms V min $$ {V}^{\mathrm{min}} diagram a Q {Q}^{\mathrm{min}} diagram. Furthermore, derive new and insightful analytical results distillation, cumulative stage fractions having monotonic profiles within column under CHT framework.

Relaxing the zero-sum assumption in neutral biodiversity theory.
The zero-sum assumption is one of the ingredients of the standard neutral model of biodiversity by Hubbell. It states that the community is saturated all the time, which in this model means that the total number of individuals in the community is constant over time, and therefore introduces a coupling between species abundances. It was shown recently that a neutral model with independent specie...
متن کاملThe quantity of Neanderthal DNA in modern humans: a reanalysis relaxing the assumption of constant mutation rate
Few now dispute that a few percent of the DNA of non-African humans is a legacy of interbreeding with Neanderthals. However, heterozygosity and mutation rate appear to be linked such that the loss of diversity associated with humans migrating out of Africa caused a mutational slowdown, allowing Africans to diverge more from both our common ancestor and from Neanderthals. Here I use a range of c...
متن کاملDEVELOPING A NEW INITIALIZATION PROCEDURE FOR DISTILLATION COLUMN SIMULATION
The simulation of distillation columns is an essential step in design, optimization, and rating. In this paper, a new procedure has been proposed for the initial estimation of column profiles based on modified Kremser’s group method for simple and/or complex columns. The effect of this initialization algorithm on simulation procedure has been studied through two examples. The results show sig...
متن کاملOptimization of Distillation Processes
In this work we present an overview of the main advances in column sequence optimization in zeotropic systems, ranging from systems using only conventional columns, each with a condenser and a reboiler, to fully thermally coupled systems with a single reboiler and a single condenser in the entire sequence. We also review the rigorous design of distillation columns, or column sequences. In all t...
متن کاملClosing the Universe by relaxing the cosmological constant JORGE
We propose a string-inspired model which correlates several aspects of particle physics and cosmology. Inspired by the flat directions and the absence of adjoint Higgs representations found in typical string models, we consider a no-scale SU(5) × U(1) supergravity model. This model entails well determined low-energy phenomenology, such as the value of the neutralino dark matter relic abundance ...
