چکیده
Body condition scores (BCS) and/or body weights (BWT) are often used as visual or tactile management tools to evaluate and improve reproductive competency in pasture-managed small ruminant animals. This study was designed relationships between BCS, BWT traits (number born alive weaned, litter size, birth weaning weights) 16 purebred Kiko, 11 Boer 7 Kiko x crossbred meat goat dams that were semi-intensively managed bred both bucks. recorded using a scale palpable BCS of 1 5 (1= emaciated 5= obese) subjectively determined at breeding, parturition weaning. Pearson correlation coefficient (r) analysis determine the residual values progeny performance BCS. Pre-partum had r=0.09. A moderate observed breeding number (r=0.36) suggesting pre-partum is key conformation measurement linked Both negatively correlated with size (r= -0.11) weight (r=-0.32) weakly (r=0.06). Also, negative correlations obtained kid (r=-0.58) weaned (r=-0.26). Although no significant (P≥0.05) effect on kg kids per dam, kids, weights, it evident score 3 mating time could optimize performance. The results this project established important roles pre-breeding have (kidding rate) herds. We recommend their evaluation useful tool for distinguishing differences nutritional needs herds, especially pasture-based production system. Int. J. Agril. Res. Innov. Effect of Flushing on the Growth, Body Condition Score and Reproductive Efficiency of Corriedale Ewes during Breeding Season and Gestation Period
The present study was aimed to improve the reproductive performance of Corriedale ewes by nutritional flushing. Forty Corriedale ewes were divided into four treatment groups (TC, T1, T2 and T3) with 10 ewes in each group (n=10). At the beginning of the breeding season extra feeding (flushing regime) was started for approximately 34 days such that two estrus cycles were covered. First group i.e....
متن کاملCorticosterone levels of tufted puffins vary with breeding stage, body condition index, and reproductive performance.
Corticosterone (CORT) levels in free-living animals are seasonally modulated and vary with environmental conditions. Although most studies measure total CORT concentrations, levels of corticosteroid binding globulin (CBG) may also be modulated, thus altering the concentration of CORT available for diffusion into tissues (free CORT). We investigated the seasonal dynamics of CBG, total CORT, and ...
متن کاملImpact of body condition change post-breeding on reproductive performance of beef cows
Body condition score (BCS) is a commonly used tool for evaluating the nutritional status of beef cows. Good nutritional status of beef cows is one of the essential components for improved reproductive performance. The objective was to evaluate the impact of change in body condition during 2 months after breeding on the AI pregnancy success in beef cows. Angus cross beef cows (N = 2571) from 11 ...
متن کاملRelationships between body weight at first mating and subsequent body development, feed intake, and reproductive performance of rabbit does.
A retrospective study was performed to evaluate the relationships between BW at first insemination and subsequent body development, feed intake, reproductive performance, and culling rate of rabbit does. Young rabbit does are vulnerable to body energy deficit in first lactation, resulting in decreased reproductive performance and high replacement rate. Heavy does at first insemination might be ...
متن کاملRelationships among Weight Change, Body Condition and Reproductive Performance of Range Beef Cows 1
A 5-yr study involving 45 to 78 pregnant Hereford range cows each year evaluated relationships among prepartum nutrition, body condition scores, BW changes and reproductive performance. Four prepartum nutritional treatments were imposed. One group of cows were fed to maintain (M) their November BW until calving in March and April. The other three groups of cows were fed to lose about 5% of thei...
