Relationship Between Root Trunk Types and Periodontal Attachment Loss in Taiwanese’s Molars Affected with Class III Furcation Involvements

The purpose of the present study was to investigate relationship between root trunk types (RTT) and periodontal attachment loss (PAL) on molars affected with Class III furcation involvement (FI). extracted teeth (169) maxillary (103) mandibular (66) in individuals severe advanced periodontitis were diagnosed as FI alveolar bone ≧70%. clinical records include patient’s age, gender, degree FIs vertical dimensions (RTT), molar location, site, number molars. assessments PAL RTT taken under a stereomicroscope equipped micrometer scale. Collected data analysed using chi-square test one-way ANOVA. Results showed that significant relationships PALs 1) prevalence location (p<0.001); 2) RTTs (f=4.32, p<0.05); 3) types; 4) surfaces (p<0.05). It concluded extraction is associated increasing length PAL.
