Relationship between Occupational Exposure to Airborne Nanoparticles, Nanoparticle Lung Burden and Lung Diseases

چکیده
The biomonitoring of nanoparticles in patients’ broncho-alveolar lavages (BAL) could allow getting insights into the role inhaled biopersistent etiology/development some respiratory diseases. Our objective was to investigate relationship between BAL, interstitial lung diseases and occupational exposure these particles released unintentionally. We analyzed data from a cohort 100 patients suffering (NanoPI clinical trial, ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT02549248) observed that most showed high probability airborne unintentionally (>50%), suggesting potential physiopathology. Depending on disease, amount likely exposed variable (e.g., 88% for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis 54% sarcoidosis). These findings are consistent with previously performed mineralogical analyses BAL samples suggested (i) titanium (ii) contribution silica submicron sarcoidosis. Further investigations necessary draw firm conclusions but first results strengthen array presumptions (from nano size)

OBJECTIVES To estimate the economic burden of lung cancer and mesothelioma due to occupational and para-occupational asbestos exposure in Canada. METHODS We estimate the lifetime cost of newly diagnosed lung cancer and mesothelioma cases associated with occupational and para-occupational asbestos exposure for calendar year 2011 based on the societal perspective. The key cost components consid...

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death for male and the second most usual cancer for women after breast cancer. Currently there are available several non-specific cytotoxic agents and several targeted agents for lung cancer therapy. However; early stage diagnosis is still unavailable and several efforts are being made towards this direction. Novel biomarkers are being investigated alo...
