Relationship Between Maxillary Fungal Sinusitis and Odontogenic Infection, Dental Implant

Background and Objectives One of the common causes chronic bacterial sinusitis is odontogenic infection, which has recently attracted attention many studies are being conducted. However, on relationship between fungal commonly encountered in clinical practice, still lacking. In this study, we investigated association sinusitis, infection dental implant.Subjects Method We retrospectively reviewed medical records paranasal sinus (PNS) CT scans 198 patients who were treated our institution for maxillary March 2010 October 2020.Results defined two groups sinuses (MS) according to presence ball (fungal group; n=204 vs. normal n=192). Fungal was diagnosed all 204 cases group. group, mean MS volume 17.0±6.2 mL, 13.8±5.2 mL. The volumes statistically small group (<i>p</i><0.001). 141 (69.1%) findings suggestive confirmed PNS significant (<i>p</i><0.001, odds ratio=2.537). Of 26 (12.7%) had implants not (<i>p</i>=0.107, ratio=1.724).Conclusion This study suggests be a risk factor developing ipsilateral sinus.
