Regulatory Mechanisms in Bone Following Mechanical Loading
Bone responds with increased bone formation to mechanical loading, and the time course of bone formation after initiating mechanical loading is well characterized. However, the regulatory activities governing the loading-dependent changes in gene expression are not well understood. The goal of this study was to identify the time-dependent regulatory mechanisms that governed mechanical loading-i...

Growth and Development: Regulatory Mechanisms in Growth and Development
A strategy that improves growth efficiency is to reduce basal metabolic rate, providing additional energy for growth. Thyroid hormones enhance metabolism and lipolysis. Previous studies have shown that increase of feeding frequency could change blood hormonal profile affecting metabolism and growth in some animals. The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of increased feeding f...
متن کاملMechanisms of thymus medulla development and function.
The development of CD4(+) helper and CD8(+) cytotoxic T-cells expressing the αβ form of the T-cell receptor (αβTCR) takes place in the thymus, a primary lymphoid organ containing distinct cortical and medullary microenvironments. While the cortex represents a site of early T-cell precursor development, and the positive selection of CD4(+)8(+) thymocytes, the thymic medulla plays a key role in t...
متن کاملRegulatory Mechanisms Controlling Maturation of Serotonin Neuron Identity and Function
The brain serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine; 5-HT) system has been extensively studied for its role in normal physiology and behavior, as well as, neuropsychiatric disorders. The broad influence of 5-HT on brain function, is in part due to the vast connectivity pattern of 5-HT-producing neurons throughout the CNS. 5-HT neurons are born and terminally specified midway through embryogenesis, then en...
