Regularity Results for Very Degenerate Elliptic Equations
We consider a family of elliptic equations introduced in the context of traffic congestion. They have the form ∇·(∇F(∇u)) = f , where F is a convex function which vanishes inside some convex set and is elliptic outside. Under some natural assumptions on F and f , we prove that the function ∇F(∇u) is continuous in any dimension, extending a previous result valid only in dimension 2 [14]. Résumé....
متن کاملPartial Regularity for Nonlinear Elliptic Systems: The Method of A-harmonic Approximation
We consider questions of boundary regularity for solutions of systems of second-order nonlinear elliptic equations satisfying non-homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions. We obtain a criterion for a weak solution to be regular in the neighbourhood of a given boundary point. The regularity proof is based on the method of so-called A-harmonic approximation. Introduction In this paper we are con...
متن کاملRegularity Results for Quasilinear Degenerate Elliptic Obstacle Problems in Carnot Groups
Let {X1, . . . , Xm} be a basis of the space of horizontal vector fields on the Carnot group G = (R , ◦)(m < N). We establish regularity results for solutions to the following quasilinear degenerate elliptic obstacle problem ∫ Ω 〈〈AXu,Xu〉 p−2 2 AXu,X(v − u)〉dx ≥ ∫ Ω B(x, u,Xu)(v − u)dx
متن کاملBesov Regularity for Elliptic Boundary Value Problems
This paper studies the regularity of solutions to boundary value problems for Laplace's equation on Lipschitz domains in R d and its relationship with adaptive and other nonlinear methods for approximating these solutions. The smoothness spaces which determine the eeciency of such nonlinear approximation in L p (() are the Besov spaces B (L (()), := (=d + 1=p) ?1. Thus, the regularity of the so...
متن کاملRegularity of minimizers for three elliptic problems: minimal cones, harmonic maps, and semilinear equations
We discuss regularity issues for minimizers of three nonlinear elliptic problems. They concern minimal cones, minimizing harmonic maps into a hemisphere, and radial local minimizers of semilinear elliptic equations. We describe the strong analogies among the three regularity theories. They all use a method originated in a paper of J. Simons on the area minimizing properties of cones.
