Regional meteoric water line of the Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico

The data set represents the Regional Meteoric Water Line (RMWL) for Yucatan Peninsula (Mexico), a region with karstic aquifers but little knowledge of isotopic composition meteoric water. This paper comprises water collected from November 2018 to 2019 as monthly composite samples expressed weighted mean precipitation 16 locations across Peninsula. RMWL was δ2H = 7.803 δ18O + 12.075, slope and intercept suggesting air that has undergone condensation, masses variable moisture or recycled moisture. average is −2.57‰ (−12.23 1.2‰) −7.94‰ (−83.39 18.32‰). by implementation an monitoring network, gathering information useful tool better understanding hydrology hydrogeochemistry aquifers, develop proxies paleohydrology, ecohydrology, climate change paleoclimate studies in Gulf Mexico Great Caribbean Area.

We performed a serologic investigation to determine whether orthobunyaviruses commonly infect humans in the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico. Orthobunyavirus-specific antibodies were detected by plaque reduction neutralization test in 146 (18%) of 823 persons tested. Further studies are needed to determine health risks for humans from this potentially deadly group of viruses.

Three leptospirosis cases with lung involvement are reported from the Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico. All three patients were admitted to the intensive care unit due to acute respiratory failure. Treatment with antibiotics resulted in favorable evolution despite the negative prognosis. Leptospirosis should be included in the differential diagnosis of patients with fever and lung involvement.
