متن کاملLocalization in One Dimensional Random Media: a Scattering Theoretic Approach
We use scattering theoretic methods to prove exponential local-ization for random displacement models in one dimension. The operators we consider model both quantum and classical wave propagation. Our main tools are the reeection and transmission coeecients for compactly supported single site perturbations. We show that randomly displaced, non-reeectionless single sites lead to localization. 1....
متن کاملRecursive Dispersion Relations in One-Dimensional Periodic Elastic Media
A frequency bandgap is a range of wave frequencies that are prohibited from passing through a medium. The dispersion relation, which links the frequency to the wave number, enables us to illustrate the bandgaps. In [E. H. متن کاملDiffusion in One Dimensional Random Medium and Hyperbolic Brownian Motion
Classical diffusion in a random medium involves an exponential functional of Brownian motion. This functional also appears in the study of Brownian diffusion on a Riemann surface of constant negative curvature. We analyse in detail this relationship and study various distributions using stochastic calculus and functional integration.
متن کاملTraveling waves in a one-dimensional random medium
We consider solutions of a scalar reaction-diffusion equation of the ignition type with a random, stationary and ergodic reaction rate. We show that solutions of the Cauchy problem spread with a deterministic rate in the long time limit. We also establish existence of generalized random traveling waves and of transition fronts in general heterogeneous media.
