Refining Deutsch's approach to thermalization

چکیده
The ground breaking investigation by Deutsch [Phys. Rev. A 43, 2046 (1991)] of how closed many-body quantum systems approach thermal equilibrium is revisited. It shown to carry out some important steps which were still missing in that paper. Moreover, the class admitted considerably extended.

Generalization of von Neumann's Approach to Thermalization.
Thermalization of isolated many-body systems is demonstrated by generalizing an approach originally due to von Neumann: For arbitrary initial states with a macroscopically well-defined energy, quantum mechanical expectation values become indistinguishable from the corresponding microcanonical expectation values for the overwhelming majority of all sufficiently late times. As in von Neumann's wo...
متن کاملnon-corrective approach to pronunciation
the aim of this study has been to find answers for the following questions: 1. what is the effect of immediate correction on students pronunciation errors? 2. what would be the effect of teaching the more rgular patterns of english pronunciation? 3. is there any significant difference between the two methods of dealing with pronuciation errore, i. e., correction and the teaching of the regular ...

Genome-scale models of Escherichia coli K-12 MG1655 metabolism have been able to predict growth phenotypes in most, but not all, defined growth environments. Here we introduce the use of an optimization-based algorithm that predicts the missing reactions that are required to reconcile computation and experiment when they disagree. The computer-generated hypotheses for missing reactions were ver...
متن کاملRefining the approach to renal artery revascularization.
Renal artery stenosis (RAS) is caused by a heterogenous group of diseases with different pathophysiology, clinical manifestations, treatment approaches, and outcomes. The 2 most common forms of RAS are fibromuscular dysplasia (FMD) and atherosclerosis (ARAS). Renovascular syndromes are broadly classified into renovascular hypertension and ischemic nephropathy, but these terms are misleading, be...
متن کاملA Distillation Approach to Refining Learning Objects
McCalla's ecological approach to e-learning systems [2] is described as “attaching models of learners to the learning objects they interact with, and then mining these models for patterns that are useful for various purposes.” The starting point of our research is to honour McCalla's ecological approach by identifying which users in a system are similar to each other, to then preferentially rec...
