REFERENDA IN THE PRINCIPALITY OF LIECHTENSTEINAfter the end of First World War, Liechtenstein abandoned its previous ties with Austria and turned – politically economically towards other neighbour, Switzerland. The result these was, among things, adoption certain political solutions, typical Helvetia adopted by Principality in constitution 1921. One solutions became referenda, used as an instrument direct democracy. Their reception was successful, today is second European country terms numbers (after Switzerland) to use this method decision-making. Until 1st October 2022, 87 referenda had been held which citizens answered 114 questions, accepting just over 40 per cent them. This tool will probably continue be near future, it a solution that already tried tested well -established country’s system. Referendum questions mostly concerned constitutional matters, specific laws, infrastructure projects requiring approval for costs. These issues generally did not differ from referendum countries.
