چکیده

Electroplating industry generatesharmful anionic heavy metalwhich is Hexavalent Chromium (Cr6+) that need to be treated before it can discharged into the environment following accordance Environmental Industry (Effluent Regulation) 2009. These Cr6+ ions must reduced chromium trivalent (Cr3+) using a reducing agent undergoing precipitation process for complete removal of (Chromium) Cr component. The common Sodium Metabisulphite (SMBS). This chemical generates harmful gases which are Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S) and Sulphur Dioxide (SO2). Circular economy practices encouraged by theDepartment Environment (DOE) includes repurposing industrial waste, where undesired product seen as potential resource other purposes. In this study, sludge from Acetylene gas production used reducingagent. (APS) contains high (Calcium) Ca element (Ferum) Fe essential reduction Cr3+. analysis APS characterization done XRF XRD instrument with result (Ca(OH)2) alkaline properties. initial concentration 3.25 mg/L total 1124 mg/L. highest percentage 61.5% found at pH5.51 dosage 1.15 ml. For effect dosing, 100% achieved pH 6.04 volume 1.8

Removal of Trivalent and Hexavalent Chromium by Seaweed Biosorbent

Protonated or Ca-form Sargassum seaweed biomass bound up to 40 mg/g of Cr(III) by ion exchange at pH 4. An ion-exchange model assuming that the only species taken up by the biomass was Cr(OH)2+ successfully fitted the experimental biosorption data for Cr(III). The maximum uptake of Cr(VI) by protonated Sargassum biomass at pH 2 was explained by simultaneous anion exchange and Cr(VI) to Cr(III) ...

Reduction of Hexavalent Chromium Using Sorbaria sorbifolia Aqueous Leaf Extract

Aqueous plant leaves extract (PLE) of an abundant shrub, Sorbaria sorbifolia, was explored for the reduction of hexavalent chromium, Cr(VI), to trivalent chromium, Cr(III). The effect of contact time, pH, PLE quantity, ionic strength, hardness, temperature and effective initial Cr(VI) ion concentration were tested; Cr(VI) reduction followed the pseudo-first order rate kinetics and maximum reduc...

Reduction of hexavalent chromium by Ochrobactrum intermedium BCR400 isolated from a chromium-contaminated soil

Hexavalent chromium-resistant Ochrobactrum intermedium BCR400 was isolated from chromium contaminated soil collected from Vadodara, Gujarat. It reduced 100 mg Cr(VI)/L completely in 52 h with initial Cr(VI) reduction rate of 1.98 mg/L/h. The Cr(VI) reduction rate decreased with increase in Cr(VI) concentration from 100 to 500 mg/L. The addition of anthraquinone-2-sulphonic acid (AQS) to culture...
