Abstract Suspension reduction kinetics of hematite ore particles at 1710 K to 1785 was described by the Johnson-Mehl-Avrami-Kolmogorov model with Avrami exponent 1.405. The apparent activation energy is 105.5 kJ mol −1 rate determining step nucleation and growth. degree endpoint a linear function temperature logarithmic oxygen potential reacting gas. A peak reaction constant particle size has been verified in this work, maximum value located around 85 µ m size. influence heat transfer on process evaluated. results suggest that heating-up for large particles, 244 instance, cannot be ignored. It can retard compared small particles. Normally, decreases linearly increase ln[ p (O 2 )] gas mixture. However, 95 vol pct CO accelerate thermal decomposition due emissivity higher 110 -containing than other less gases.
