Abstract Solar photovoltaic technology faces many challenges in climates that are characterized by arid nature with high dust frequencies and relative humidity levels, which make build-up extremely problematic. Soiling condensation affect the performance of PV systems greatly degrades their power output. Covering panels during non-operation will improve overall efficiency reduce soiling. In present study, a motorized curtain is developed to cover module surface nights storms.
