چکیده

Abstract Background Improving future thinking, such as characteristics of specificity, detail, and use mental imagery, may be one means to reduce anhedonia, particularly in a Major Depressive Episode (MDE) which thinking is impaired. The current study aimed test this using validated program, Future Event Specificity Training (FEST). Methods Participants ( N = 177; 80.8% women; M age 43.7, SD 11.8) with depressive episode anhedonia high symptom severity were randomized FEST or no FEST. anhedonia-related variables, other clinical outcomes assessed at baseline, one- three-month follow-up. Results Relative the control group, was associated significantly improved characteristics, reduced likelihood (35.1% vs. 61.1%, p .015), improvements on variables anticipatory d 0.63, .004) anticipated pleasure for events 0.77, < .001), desirable less people meeting criteria an MDE (37.8% 64.8%, .011), higher behavioural activation 0.71, .001) global functioning 0.52, .017). Changes found mediate effect anhedonia. Conclusion quality can enhanced Depression, leads substantially significant effects, functional gains.

Bright light treatment in elderly patients with nonseasonal major depressive disorder: a randomized placebo-controlled trial.

CONTEXT Major depressive disorder (MDD) in elderly individuals is prevalent and debilitating. It is accompanied by circadian rhythm disturbances associated with impaired functioning of the suprachiasmatic nucleus, the biological clock of the brain. Circadian rhythm disturbances are common in the elderly. Suprachiasmatic nucleus stimulation using bright light treatment (BLT) may, therefore, impr...

Anhedonia in Unipolar Major Depressive Disorder: A Review

Anhedonia, the decreased capacity to experience pleasure, is a defining symptom of unipolar major depressive disorder (MDD). This review summarizes definitions and measurement issues related to the assessment of hedonic capacity in MDD, epidemiological research addressing linkages between anhedonia and MDD, as well as biomedical research investigating the neurobiology of anhedonia in both pre-c...

A randomized controlled trial of intranasal ketamine in major depressive disorder.

BACKGROUND The N-methyl-D-aspartate glutamate receptor antagonist ketamine, delivered via an intravenous route, has shown rapid antidepressant effects in patients with treatment-resistant depression. The current study was designed to test the safety, tolerability, and efficacy of intranasal ketamine in patients with depression who had failed at least one prior antidepressant trial. METHODS In...

Vitamin B12 Supplementation in Treating Major Depressive Disorder: A Randomized Controlled Trial

BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVE Recent literature has identified links between vitamin B12 deficiency and depression. We compared the clinical response of SSRI-monotherapy with that of B12-augmentation in a sample of depressed patients with low normal B12 levels who responded inadequately to the first trial with the SSRIs. METHODS Patients with depression and low normal B12 levels were randomized to a co...
