چکیده

Abstract The Missouri Soil and Water Conservation Program was initiated by the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to address challenges related soil water degradation examining health under real‐world management practices. data from 5,300 field sites enrolled in a DNR cost‐share program were analyzed for effects tillage intensity [no‐till (NT), reduced (RT), intensive (IT)] crop rotational diversity (monoculture, two‐crops, three or more crops rotation) within across six regions state. indicators included organic carbon (SOC), active carbon, potentially mineralizable nitrogen (PMN), aggregate stability. At state level, SOC, PMN 14.4, 14.0, 17.5% greater NT, 10.2, 11.0, 11.2% RT, respectively, compared with IT. Aggregate stability NT (33.8%) RT (30.4%) relative IT (28.0%). Across state, diversified rotations exhibited 6.1 7.9% 6.5 10.7 11.6% two‐crop monocultures, respectively. significantly (35.5%) (30.6%) monoculture (30.8%). This study highlights value on‐farm datasets real production systems illustrates potential increase adoption conservation extended Missouri.

Soil Management and Tillage

Soil is one of our most precious natural resources. Proper soil management is a key to sustainable agricultural production. Soil management involves six essential practices: proper amount and type of tillage, maintenance of soil organic matter, maintenance of a proper nutrient supply for plants, avoidance of soil contamination, maintenance of the correct soil acidity, and control of soil loss (...

Soil Compaction and Soil Tillage – Studies in Agricultural Soil Mechanics

Keller, T. 2004. Soil Compaction and Soil Tillage Studies in Agricultural Soil Mechanics Doctoral dissertation. ISSN 1401-6249, ISBN 91-576-6769-1 This thesis deals with various aspects of soil compaction due to agricultural field traffic, the draught force requirement of tillage implements and soil structures produced by tillage. Several field experiments were carried out to study the mechanic...

Tillage Effects on Soil Health and Crop Productivity: A Review

The cultivation of agricultural soils has until recently predominantly been achieved by inverting the soil using tools such as the plough. Soil tillage is one of the basic and important components of agricultural production technology. Various forms of tillage are practised throughout the world, ranging from the use of simple stick or jab to the sophisticated para-plough. The practices develope...

Weed Control Using Conventional Tillage, Reduced Tillage, No-Tillage, and Cover Crops in Organic Soybean

Soybean field experiments were performed to investigate the weed-suppressing effects of different tillage systems and cover crop mulches at two locations in southwest Germany during 2014 and 2015. The influence of three different tillage systems on weed control efficacy, soybean plant density, and crop yield was determined. In the no-till system (NT), two different cover crops, (rye and barley)...

Effects of reduced tillage and liming on microbial activity and soil properties in a weakly-structured soil

The effects of reduced tillage and lime on crop yield and soil physical and microbial properties were studied in a weakly-structured silty clay loam soil. Two autumn primary tillage practices were compared, mouldboard ploughing to 20–25 cm and cultivation to 12 cm. Seedbed preparation was carried out by several harrowing operations in the mouldboard ploughed treatment, and with a PTO-driven har...
