Recurring Rural Destination Sport Events: A Study on Participants’ Direct Spending

The current study explores direct spending profiles of sport event tourists in a very small rural destination as an alternative to the multiplier effect economic impact studies. Sport tourism has been used engine tool by variety sizes but neglected for destinations, where people arrive from various distance radiuses participate this central activity place. Data were collected participants at small-scale recurring mountain running event. An online survey instrument was sent after Participants reported on their daily and total expenditures regarding accommodation, meals other tourist spending. results revealed that who responded spent average about EUR 163 205 38 spending, such souvenirs. Respondents closer radius, less average, approximately 156, 383 26 respective categories. Rural destinations counting hosting events boosts poorly areas witness considerable financial gains regions via estimation more feasible calculations.
