Recovery of oil from palm oil mill effluent using polypropylene micro/nanofiber

Residual palm oil that goes into the river untreated can become detrimental to environment. discharge during milling process mill effluent (POME) is unavoidable. About 1 wt% of residual in POME causes major problems mills, terms environment, wastewater treatment and economy losses. This paper reports recovery from by adsorption on polypropylene micro/nanofiber (PP-MNF) desorption hands pressing, extraction PP-MNF using solvent supercritical-CO2 techniques. The characterization quality extracted were analyzed analytical instruments. reusability was also investigated. experimental results showed capacity 28.65 g oil/g average refined oil, whilst 10.93 PP-MNF. yield hand pressing 89.62%. pressed comparable between supercritical CO2 recovered similar with crude no trace contamination detected recovered. significant physical change after process. In conclusion, has great potential be used commercially POME.
